eBikes: The Technology
What is an eBike?
This might seem obvious to some people? But people have different visions of what an electric bike is.
In the cycle industry, the term eBike is a bicycle with a motor that activates when the bike is pedaled. This can also be reffered to as a pedalec.
Why choose an eBike?
Electric bikes appeal to all ages and all kinds of riders: whether you want a more manageable commute to work, an extra boost to help you up steep hills or a way to keep up with more experienced cyclists on those more challenging rides.
Motor
The harder you pedal the more assistance delivered by the motor. Therefore, the output varies dependent on inclines, declines and pace.
Display
The computer display provides you with information about the remaining battery, range, speed, trip distance and level of assistance. Some of the more advanced models also feature satellite navigation and fitness monitoring.
Battery
The battery can be charged both on and off the bike; just plug it in and it will recharge in approximately 3 hours dependent on capacity.
